The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd. was incorporated in Mumbai on 12th September 1947 as a wholly owned subsidiary of The Oriental Government Security Life Assurance Company Ltd. Its initial purpose was to conduct general insurance business. Between 1956 and 1973, Oriental Insurance operated as a subsidiary of the Life Insurance Corporation of India, until the nationalization of the general insurance business. In 2003, ownership of the company was transferred from the General Insurance Corporation of India to the Central Government of India.
The company had a modest start, with its first-year premium amounting to Rs. 99,946 in 1950. From the outset, Oriental Insurance has been driven by the motto "Service to clients," building a strong tradition of reliability and customer care over time.
In Dubai, The Oriental Insurance Company established its presence in 1960 through its Chief Agency, ARMAB Insurance Works LLC. With over six decades in the region, the company has earned the trust of its clientele, offering a wide range of tailor-made insurance products and services.
